Navigating Conflict: A Toolkit for Supervisors

For supervisors, conflict isn't the exception — It's a predictable feature of the job. The question is: Are you ready?

This evidence-based interactive webinar gives supervisors practical tools for understanding and responding to conflict — however complex, emotional, or high-stakes it gets.

Participants will learn to:

1) Recognize the real source of conflict beneath the surface presentation

2) Apply evidence-based frameworks to common supervisory conflict scenarios

3) Approach emotionally charged conflict with greater clarity and confidence

4) Respond strategically — not reactively — to conflict situations Through short videos, small group case studies, and practical frameworks they can use immediately, participants leave with a practical conflict management toolkit — not just theory.

5) Suitable for supervisors across all disciplines and organizational settings.

Decision Making for Supervisors: From Gut to Strategy

Supervisors make dozens of decisions every day — under pressure, with incomplete information, and with real consequences for the people they lead. This three-hour webinar gives supervisors a practical toolkit for deciding more clearly and more confidently. Participants will explore eight decision-making frameworks, from how the brain processes fast and slow thinking to structured tools for crisis situations, and learn how to match the right approach to the right situation.

The webinar also addresses the forces that derail even experienced supervisors: groupthink, polarized thinking, and cognitive traps like the sunk cost effect. Through short videos, case examples, and a hands-on practice activity, participants will identify the ten most common decision-making mistakes and leave with a personal checklist they can use the next day..

Class 1

10:00 AM - 1:00 PM EST

The Challenging Ethics of Mental Health Supervision

Supervisors are essential to the practice of mental health, but the supervisor’s role is a complicated one. Ethical considerations for supervisors can be very different from that of their supervisees. This training will explore the unique ethical considerations of supervisors, with special attention to the complications the supervisory role brings to boundaries. This course will provide a framework to contemplate ethical dilemmas and make informed decisions that insulate supervisors from compromising their liability while also supporting their supervisees and protecting clients from harm.

(Trainer - Kathryn Krase, Ph.D., J.D., M.S.W., Principal Consultant with Krase Consultant, is an expert on the professional ethics, and the intersection of ethics with legal responsibilities. She has years of experience consulting with government and community based organizations to develop policy & practice standards.)

Class 2

Leveraging Technology and AI in Clinical Supervision

The integration of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in mental health supervision presents opportunities to enhance efficiency, improve feedback, and streamline processes, but it also introduces unique challenges. This training, designed for mental health practitioners in supervisory roles, explores the practical applications of technology and AI in clinical supervision while addressing critical ethical and legal considerations. Participants will gain insights into commonly used tools such as telehealth platforms, AI-driven feedback systems, and electronic health records, alongside emerging technologies like symptom-tracking apps and predictive analytics.

This comprehensive 3-hour session provides supervisors with the knowledge to guide supervisees in adopting technology effectively, ensuring compliance with professional standards such as HIPAA and maintaining the human element in clinical practice. The course includes pre-recorded case examples, ethical scenario analyses, and structured planning exercises to empower supervisors to evaluate and implement tech solutions confidently. By the end of the training, participants will be prepared to create a strategic plan for integrating technology into their supervision practice, balancing innovation with client and supervisee needs.

(Trainer - Amy Smitke has Over 10 years of supervisory experience in clinical settings, providing both supervision and training to clinical and support staff. A decade of expertise in delivering group, family, and individual counseling, specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, strength-based counseling, client-centered therapy, and schema therapy.
